Districts

Paris is big and Paris is touristy. All the more reason to find out the best districts and streets to visit.

18th: Local, friendly village 'Montmartre'
Artist came and come here to live for a reason. The place is located on a hill where the Basilique 'Sacre Coeur' is the eye catcher. Steps, little squares and parks combined with astonishing views on the city make this a picturesque place. On and around Rue des Abbesses you find fashion boutiques, vintage bars and traiteurs. Great place to go on Sunday when everything is open.

3th: Trendy, couture and on the edge at the Marais
The Marais is a small district in Paris that attracts the fasionistas in the world. Here you find a mix of haute couture, vintage, trendy and pre-trendy. Besides fashion, there are many lifestyle shops, traiteurs and bars. Love it! Rue des Francs Bourgeois and Rue Vieille du Temple are the centre of this shopping heaven.

6th: Art galeries in 'Saint Germain des Prés'
St Germain des Prés is famous for its bars around metro 'Odéon'. Definitely worth going for a drink, but be aware. Prices can vary extremely between the different bars. The other side of this district are the many art galleries on the streets of Rue de Mazarine and Rue du Bac.

7th: Up market shops at 'Rue St Dominique'
Between Invalides and the Eiffel Tower you find many high quality food shops. After a while the Eiffel Tower emerges from behind the shops to give you a beautiful view! Perfect walk to this tourist attraction.

1th: Japan in Paris!
On the streets of Rue St Anne et Rue des Petits Champs you find lots of Japanese restaurants. The Parisians come here for lunch and diner. Before 19h30 you will easily find a table, after that you may have to queue up. One of my favorites: Kunitoraya (39 Rue Sainte-Anne) and Toyotomi (24 Rue des Petits Champs).

1st: Street music on 'Ile St Louis'
Ile St Louis is a one of the two islands in the Seine. On one you find the Notre Dame, on the other you find street musicians. When you are in Paris in the Summer and the sun shines: buy a sandwich and go sit on the Pont Saint Louis to enjoy the music.
